( [id://3333]=superdoc: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??
Some of the bars listed are famous because of the work of fiction they are a part of (Casablanca, Star Wars, the Harry Potter books, etc.). Some are famous because they are a plot device for stories to be told at (like the White Hart, where Arthur C. Clarke had patrons telling tales to one another, or Callhan's, where Spider Robinson did something similar).

I don't drink, but I read voraciously and love old movies. Some of the places listed above are old friends. I hoped the links would help jog the memory of others (just as people who suggested some of the names helped jog mine).

If you have a question about a specific place, mention the name. Someone here will be happy to talk about it.

Title:
Use:  <p> text here (a paragraph) </p>
and:  <code> code here </code>
to format your post; it's "PerlMonks-approved HTML":

  • Are you posting in the right place? Check out Where do I post X? to know for sure.
  • Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
    <code> <a> <b> <big> <blockquote> <br /> <dd> <dl> <dt> <em> <font> <h1> <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> <h6> <hr /> <i> <li> <nbsp> <ol> <p> <small> <strike> <strong> <table> <td> <th> <tr> <tt> <u> <ul>
  • Snippets of code should be wrapped in <code> tags not <pre> tags. In fact, <pre> tags should generally be avoided. If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
  • Want more info? How to link or How to display code and escape characters are good places to start.
