( [id://3333]=superdoc: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??

I'm writing a perl program that takes as input some tiff files, and outputs the total number of pages in all the files. The Imager module seems exactly like what I need. However, I'm having some problems.

1. How do I install tiff support for Imager?
2. Do I have to reinstall Imager afterwards? If so, how?

The documentation on the Imager CPAN site simply says, "If you have the necessary knowledge, install the image format libraries you want Imager image file support for, and Imager itself, otherwise arrange to have it done." This statement is not helpful.

In searching this site, I see that other people have asked similar questions, such as here
http://perlmonks.org/index.pl?node_id=471991
and here
http://perlmonks.org/index.pl?node_id=774616
but the posted solutions link to a readme file that no longer exist.

Use:  <p> text here (a paragraph) </p>
and:  <code> code here </code>
to format your post; it's "PerlMonks-approved HTML":

  • Are you posting in the right place? Check out Where do I post X? to know for sure.
  • Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
    <code> <a> <b> <big> <blockquote> <br /> <dd> <dl> <dt> <em> <font> <h1> <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> <h6> <hr /> <i> <li> <nbsp> <ol> <p> <small> <strike> <strong> <table> <td> <th> <tr> <tt> <u> <ul>
  • Snippets of code should be wrapped in <code> tags not <pre> tags. In fact, <pre> tags should generally be avoided. If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
