The last time the question of GD VS ImageMagick Again... was asked back in 2007, GD seemed like a clear winner a least for basic web resizing of images. Since then the underlying GD library seems to have died. http://libgd.org/Main_Page seems to stop at that point. The library is in the 'oldlibs' section on Debian. I cannot really believe the that the library reached it's final form whilst having 94 bugs. Assuming that the project has died and no one takes over, how do monks feel about this?

Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
<code> <a> <b> <big>
<blockquote> <br /> <dd>
<dl> <dt> <em> <font>
<h1> <h2> <h3> <h4>
<h5> <h6> <hr /> <i>
<li> <nbsp> <ol> <p>
<small> <strike> <strong>
  <table>
<td> <th> <tr> <tt>
<u> <ul>
-
Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
