Hi Monks,
I am looking to call a couple of subroutines within a conditional. Something like:
my $starting_point;
my $continue_tag = "TRUE";
while ($continue_tag == "TRUE"){
look_through_file ($starting_point, $continue_tag);
create_output (@array_of_lines, $entry_no_new);
}
However I get the following error message:
main::look_through_file() called too early to check prototype at recei
+ve_annotations_B.pl line 47.
Basically the $continue_tag may switch to 'FALSE' within the subroutine. At which point I was hoping that the subroutine would no longer be called. Have I made an obvious error in my assumptions?

Are you posting in the right place? Check out Where do I post X? to know for sure.

Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
<code> <a> <b> <big>
<blockquote> <br /> <dd>
<dl> <dt> <em> <font>
<h1> <h2> <h3> <h4>
<h5> <h6> <hr /> <i>
<li> <nbsp> <ol> <p>
<small> <strike> <strong>
  <table>
<td> <th> <tr> <tt>
<u> <ul>
-
Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
