I still say there's no better symbol than a prettied-up version of my Perl-e idea. We can't erase the camel as an animal symbol for perl, and having two animals competing is a bad idea. No animal, unless it's an open clam shell in the background of my idea.

A pocket knife could be used. Victorinox's copyright doesn't have to be violated. Other brands are allowed. Just don't use the cross. Even the red color might be allowed.

Duct tape could be made to work by a creative artist. You could shape a piece of tape that's hanging off the roll in any way you want, but Perl shouldn't be given the image of a patching-up language only.

All these non-word marks would clash with the camel. Stick with my idea. Be more like me.

Everyone is aiming in the right direction. A symbol everyone would be proud to have around, and place on every personal possession in sight. I agree with how we need to take the strengths of Perl and incorporate it somehow. For some strange reason I sketched up a rather amusing drawing of a camel in monk's robe holding up a book of Perl. I will be sure to post it soon ^^
