Started with desktop computers when I assembled my first HeathKit H8 in 1979. 8080 cpu, 32KB RAM 3 100k floppy disk drives.
Currently have an obsolete '386 (8MB RAM, Debian Linux 2.2, 100 MB HD, 350MB HD) functions as internet firewall, gateway for home network. Compaq laptop (32 MB RAM, 3 GB HD) running Debian Linux 2.2, samba, mysql, apache. Another Compaq laptop (96MB ram, 6gb HD, Win98), and "bigmomma" a HP Desktop, WinXP, IIS, and .NET Framework.
In 1990 went "truckin", over the road for 11 years, and forgot about computers.
Now I'm trying to relearn all that I've forgotten, and learn the new developments since then, made difficult because I'm still a truck driver 6 days a week, driving a (big 42 wheeler ) dump truck.
Learn how to query, update a database via web, and
display that data in a GUI to non-programers.
Learn to write Perl Scripts
Learn XML, Windows Forms, learn C#, J#, Python.
Oh, yes, I'm still trying to grow grass, er ah, "lawn" in front of my home, instead of the weeds that do grow there now.
