Maybe if C/C++ had a cool mascot, was easier, and had more scripts for use on websites, it would be more attractive to newbie programmers and therefore be more popular. Put all of the Perlmonks sections on a C message board and they would immediately be renamed into something more practical, more logically divided, and less used.
