RFC: Monks shall party in da Burgh

by Petruchio (Vicar)
on Oct 30, 2000 at 07:26 UTC ( [id://39036]=perlmeditation: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??

It's come to my attention that a buncha yunz Monks is Picksburghers. AgentM, being the latest I'd noticed, suggested that we get together dahntahn.

So: how many Monks are close enough to Pittsburgh Pennsylvania to want to go there for a little party/meeting/whatever? And how does sometime next weekend sound? I seem to recall meeting a total of five or six folks from the area; perhaps there are yet more lurking.

Let's hear what'd be good for you, and make some plans. I'll update this post as plans solidify

UPDATE

Ok, we've had a bunch of ideas, but few strong opinions. Some people will be able to make it around Thanksgiving who won't be able to sooner; I think maybe we could meet then too, if folks are inclined.

I propose 7:00 PM, Friday, Primanti's. If you approve, RSVP below. If you don't say why below. Or /msg me, if you'd rather.

FINAL UPDATE

Primanti's deli - casual dress. 7:00 PM Friday, Nov. 3. 3803 Forbes Avenue, East of downtown, just past Children's Hosptial. Be there, or be square.

I ain't living in da burgh anymore, but I'll be there for Turkey day from the 17th to the 28th. Meeting yinz for a cold ahrn or two sounds great n'at.

I'm thinking the saside is better than dahntahn, though, unless the stillerz are in tahn. We should go to Primanti's. Or maybe a Pens game.

I will cut school to go (how that's different from normal, I don't know). If anyone is driving through upstate NY, pick me up and I will give you money...and ENDLESS AMUSEMENT!

I work downtown. I'd reccommend either Vallhalla, or that new jazz club near the edison.

I'm dahn. Live and work (for now) in Squirrel Hill, but as long as we're around the city I'll be there.

I've created a nifty home node graphic for all "yunz" that wanna show off that you're from Pburgh (yeah, it's a joke). But I might find it useful if we link that to a webpage somewhere with a bboard...in fact, I'm making it NOW! Since I can't display the pic here, here's the URL: http://www.mac-man.de/pspm.gif. Hope to c u all friday!

I've got a bboard, but it requires a login and valid email. (free registration ;)

I mostly use it for notes an'at.

I think it may be overkill tho.

Count me in for a meetin' in da ghetto for wheneva xept fo' thanksgivin' since the campoos closes down and I gotta gow.

May I suggest a place? How about someplace near a bus stop so that I can get there (or through Pittsburgh's fascinating three-station subway system)? do we want to eat, see a show, or wassdaplan? I'm in for next week if you're game. As an incentive, I'll be offering *free* (did i say free? I must be INSANE!) autographs to those who come. My autographs usually sell on ebay for more than $0.20 (wavering with the current Apple stock)! so come and let's hoe-down! I'll be the one wearing the red shawl.....8-o

/me RSVPs and humbly asks for directions
