Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. Could you try again with something remotely resembling a coherent question?

Update: I don't know why the frell you people are pointing him at substr when the example he gives is possibly indicating he wants the first doubled digits out of the string of several digits (($doubled) = ($number =~ /((\d)\1)/)[0]). But the question's so poorly specified I'm not even sure of that.

Update: Gah. Never mind me, I misread the example. It's still a crappy question. Bite my shiny metal tuckus.
