Strikes me in a blinding flash:
Must ALWAYS 'use strict;'
I am continually amazed by Perl. I'll see some funky bit to the language and think, "Now why on earth would they do that?". Then I'll learn a bit more, and have that wonderful "AHA!" moment.
It's humbling, really.
