Ideas for new Perl modules and applications:

  • Win32::MSIPacker => Build MSI files for Perl apps. See Delay running Perl execs in Windows.
  • Math::IntMod => module to perform integer arithmetic module N. That could be done easyly on top of Math::BigInt or even Math::GMPn (for faster operation). The N constant could be specified when the number is created of using a lexical pragma (storing it inside %^H). See also emulate 32-bit on perl 64.
  • rdiff => Using the rsync protocol write a program/module able to generate the same output as diff but doing it between a local and a remote file or directory.
  • GitHub installer => An application similar to cpanm that can download and install perl modules from GitHub. It should follow dependencies and allow the user to decide what comes from github and what from CPAN.

[perldigious]: I train for long portaging/rowing trips by carrying my kayak to the river about a half mile from my house 2-3 times a week depending on weather... but due to a lingering winter, I haven't had long to train this year.
[erix]: Ah, I found the link for my run: 6km (and 6km back)
[perldigious]: Also, made the unhappy discovery that the ticks have become active already this year... I really, really hate ticks.
[Lotus1]: perldigious I found out recently that opossums are very good at killing ticks.
Your Mother is lucky to only have to carry a kayak 15 feet to put in.
[perldigious]: If I was given the option to remove either mosquitos or ticks from the world... I think I'd pick ticks, even though I'd guess most would go the other way.
[Lotus1]: when they grooms themselves they eat any ticks they find. and apparently lots of ticks latch onto opossums.
[Your Mother]: There is a nice looking—don’t know first hand—new tool being market for removing ticks.
