    Of course you conveniently omitted your definition of HLL. Maybe you'd like to give us some examples of un-functional high level languages?
      Maybe you'd like to give us some examples of un-functional high level languages?

      Ruby? Lisp? Smalltalk? Perl? Pop-11? Eiffel? Javascript?

        So you're saying Lisp, Perl, and Javascript don't support functions as first class values? Or maybe you're claiming that higher-order functions aren't commonly used in those languages?
