Well, for example in this moment I see as the first post in The Monastery Gates this article: DBI and PP not behaving..., from Seekers of Perl Wisdom and I see the indication "4 replies" and "3 replies" in the respective "locations".

UPDATE: I'm not offended, but most definitely I'm puzzled to see posts like this getting downvoted, especially I can't see why, taking into account that I'm answering to a specific cmt. A reply/explanation would have been welcome...

That's interesting, because I see "2 replies" for both locations. (and the node itself has 3 replies in 2 threads)

update: AFAIK, the "# of replies" usually refers to the number of direct replies (i.e. threads)

update 2: changing my user settings to "show count of all replies" does indeed show the incorrect count on the monastery gates.

Yep, I've noticed this problem before. I'm sure there was a discussion on it some time ago, and whoever made the report was more or less dismissed.

I wouldn't say dismissed, but that none of the responders understood what I was trying to say. In order to see the discrepancy, you have to change a user setting - and no one who responded changed it. A couple of people in this thread have.

Anyway, it definitely didn't get the attention of anyone who could do anything about it. I chose not to pursue the issue since I hardly visit the Monastery Gates anyway, my entry point is Newest Nodes
