Jive is a kind of dialect. Almost its own language.
Kind of reminds me -not unexpectedly- of Jim's dialogues in "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn", which I had the unfortunate idea of reading in English as a young boy (I'm Italian!) but which I every now and again I re-read, since incidentally I still consider it to be one of the best books of I ever read, not to say the archetype of modern American travel fiction!
Thanks to the license's expiration and the web, I have had the chance to appreciate some books that I might have never tryied reading, like Moby Dick, written by the awsome Herman Melville. (note: Only because, I don't study any subject related to Literature.)
