Read through the most recent several hundred threads in Seekers of Perl Wisdom, make a frequency list of the modules suggested as solutions, and make sure you're familiar with how to use the most popular modules. Also make sure you know perlvar backwards and forwards, how to use strict and warnings, and how to properly handle Perl references and nested data structures.
