I do as much of $day_job as I can in Perl (the majority of the systems at current $day_job are written in MS Access 97 or VB). All of my @contract_jobs are Perl (some wxPerl, some CGI::Application, some plain CGI). I obtained a Diploma of CIS (Computer Information Systems) from a two year course at a local college. Before that was two years of general arts at the same college and before that was a year of Engineering at UBC. I am a generalist, not a specialist, and Perl comes in handy for almost anything I might need to do. Which is, of course, part of what I love about Perl.
