This is not a mailing list (those are elsewhere). It's more of a web . . . forum . . . board . . . thing. You're welcome to post questions about Perl, but please be sure to read How (Not) To Ask A Question and Where should I post X?, and search the documentation (type perldoc perl at your shell/command prompt) and prior posts (use the "Super Search" link at the top right) first before doing so.

If you prefer an e-mail approach to things, many Perl Monger groups around the world host local e-mail lists for discussing Perl. Have a look at the map.

No, this is a religious organization. :)

Penance, self-mortification and tithing may be required.

Hello, somashekar, and welcome to Perl Monks. This isn't a mailing list. It's a Website where you can post questions that will be answered here on the Website. In general, you will need to come back here to find answers to the questions you ask. One reason for doing it this way is so that others can benefit from the answer. Also, if an answer is incomplete or inaccurate, other Perl Monks can add their opinions and corrections.

Because the questions and answers are preserved, it is possible for someone to do a search for their topic, and see whether the question has already been asked and answered. This is what Search and Super Search are for. Doing a search before asking a question will help avoid annoying people for asking a question that has been asked and answered dozens of times before.
