in thread Perl is dying

I've never seen anyone go apoplectic over "PERL". This is apoplectic:
GOOD FRELLING GRIEF, WHAT KIND OF FRAKING MORON ARE YOU! EVERYONE AND THEIR SISTER'S DOG KNOWS THAT "PERL" IS NOT AN ACRONYM YOU VACUOUS, TOFFEE-NOSED, MALODOROUS PERVERT! IT'S "perl" OR "Perl" YOU SECOND HAND ELECTRIC DONKEY BOTTOM BITER!
This is what usually happens:
"Perl" is the language, "perl" is the implementation; "PERL" is just wrong.
See the difference?
New here, eh?

People who write perl, Perl and PERL
PERL as shibboleth and the Perl community
Capitalizing acronyms (Re: Is PERL case sensitive?)

I suppose some of that isn't so bad, but it looks awfully stupid. I'd dig up other examples, but it's extremely hard to search for different capitalizations.

Erm, and which of those exactly was "apoplectic"? Aside from the fact that none of those was in response to the misuse of "PERL" by someone asking a question (the complaint to which I was responding), they're all reasoned, well written, and not at all hyperbolic in their rhetoric.

If you find any of those overly hostile (again, the particular claim I was addressing) perhaps you should look into some sort of skin thickener. Maybe those "Oil of Olay" people make some kind of balm or lotion you could use.

So where you involved in those threads? The only one that seemed to be kind of jerky was Tom. I am told by a couple people he can be that way.

However, these examples fail to show people getting apopletic over "PERL"

Are we talking about apopletic or apoplectic? The root to the second word is apoplexy? I like definition one...
      1. Sudden impairment of neurological function, especially that resulting from a cerebral hemorrhage; a stroke.
...seems anyone worrying about PERL vs. perl has probably lost some higher brain function. Or are we talking about apocalyptic?
      3. Characterized by usually exaggerated predictions of or allusions to a disastrous outcome: “Not knowing the provenance of P.E.R.L. is tantamount to spitting in the face of Perl luminaries."
        Are we talking about...

        No, this non-medical meaning.

We're building the house of the future together.
