Personally, I wouldn't know what is said in other communities, because I find everything I need with Perl and PM. If you've been "driven ... away from Perl forever", what are you doing here? Apparently you still have some feelings for the language or its users - some attraction.

I am often puzzled by how many people come here to explain how Perl isn't worth anything, it's a useless, stupid language, blah, blah, blah - and yet, they return here daily to tell us all about it. Don't you have any programs to write?

I was doing a search for some implimentation options for one of the several better designed languages I currently use and a saw a rediculous statement. When I saw it I imediately thought "that sounds like one of those perl nazi's". I followed the link and it brought me here.
