Agreed, as far as there's a fair chance of introducing a new programming language (in casu: Perl) in your shop. Then again, there's the kind of shops that (usually for reasons of support/maintenance and programmer profiles) standardize on one/a few specific programming languages. I've worked in a context, where only C# was allowed/supported for app. development, -- but where I could develop parts of the solution 3-5 x as easy (=productively, and... interestingly) in Perl, so... I convinced the PHB, that i needed a "small scripting tool" to supplement C#. He signed my order for Komodo, and I could start programming .... eeeehh "scripting", in Active State Perl. Been doing that since, as it best fits into thecurrent app. context.
