Perhaps you should look at what the SlimDevices developers are doing: They offer (an open source) audio streaming server "slimserver". In that context, at least a couple of Audio::* CPAN modules have been created. Have a look at this CPAN author, for example http://search.cpan.org/~daniel/ Steffen
