... not large enough. Try drinking from a Yard (a yard-long glass); that takes dexterity. And a while to empty...

Ah, yes. I spent many a useful hour in college at The Irish Lion learning how to drink yards. We used to play a game called First and Ten: take as many yards as you can. The best part is watching neophytes; at a certain point, and the experienced yard-drinker knows what I'm talking about, the neophyte will have the glass tipped WAAAaaaay too high, there will be a loud GLUG, and the neophyte's eyes will enlarge to the size of ashtrays as a tsunami of Harp rushes towards them.

It's a shame, really; what a waste of Harp to have it splash all over the clothes of neophyte.

Ah, you were far wiser than I. My (unsuccessful, but fun) yard experiences were on my own time, working on a contract in London. Where was the Irish Lion?
the neophyte will have the glass tipped WAAAaaaay too high,
      Oh, no...
there will be a loud GLUG,
      Please, no...

It was Guiness for me, and you must have been watching. I did say "unsuccessful, but fun". 8-)
The Irish Lion is a fine pub and eatery in Bloomington, IN, home of Indiana University. It's been open for about 30 years, hasn't spent a nickel on advertisement, and is packed every night but Super Bowl Sunday (and even then ...) Great beer, great atmosphere, and great food. They also have upstairs dining if you are with kids (since there is some fuddy-duddy state law about kids eating in a place where they can actually see the bar).

I lost many a worthy synapse there in the noble causes of gastronomy and zymurgy appreciation, and to our dieing days, my family will thank me for attending IU instead of Purdue because I introduced them to The Irish Lion.
