I don't know where you are located, but in my area. I find more perl guys than PHP or Ruby.
Since I am manager, I find it easy to train a guy on Perl and get the work started. New people also get good jobs, when they have perl knowledge. i don't feel any problem working with Perl managing new projects, since past 6-7 years
