Dark Ages of Camelot used /em. I prefer /me (since you can actually read what you're typing and you'll get the right person for your verbs), but I recognize that some might be used to /em.

Yeah, I don't see a problem with implementing it. I've seen enough different people type "/em" to realize that it must be a somewhat common meme in other circles.

it's not a typo, it's a shorthand for "/emote". at least, that's how I always understood it.
