I have a boring old board game we never use and that has a large box with a shaped plastic thingy to hold the parts in place. As that plastic thing is difficult to remove from the cardboard box, you don't normally need to remove it even if you want to play a game, and there's much room under it, it's an ideal place to hide secret things.
