in reply to poll ideas quest 2007

As poll titles can't contain links, this one can't work as is, but someone might recommend some solution for that. Also, the topic of this one might be wrong for polls.

The shat flames guy really was…

The answers are not really exclusive, but that's not a big problem I think.

Update 2011-06-07: apl has posted the similar Re: poll ideas quest 2011 about what is for key pls.

    My computer poops flames because...

    • I listened to shat flames guy
    • There was too much ramen in the fan
    • There was not enough ramen in the fan
    • Wait, I can't install VB on linux?
    • I CAN HAZ CHEEZBURGER?
    meh.

If you think "kitty hair and ramen noodles guy" would be as good at bringing this classic to mind, I'd rather it said that.

Re: links, it could be made to work with some coding effort. (A "this title contains link" flag or gimmick number affecting just the nodelet and the poll-specific pages.) Failing that, you could just make the entirety of each answer a link to the thread.

Well, if you're thinking of changing the code, I'd think it would be a better solution to add a way to show some extra text between the title and the options (in the nodelet, the normal poll view, and the vote displaytype).

Without changing code, you could rewrite the poll title so some of the answers start with "he is" with "he" linking to the post or something. That would bring up gender-neutral pronouns flame in the poll thread so maybe it's better to link "lied" and "told the truth" etc or even say "lied in that thread" and link the "that thread".

I added a prologue text field in September 2006, for My favorite web comic is:. Perhaps it's time to document it somewhere? :) It's only been used once more since then.
