I had to vote "something else", as I use a combination (when I shave). First electric, and I finish with safety.

When Yak Shaving I will use any tool available to get past the shit

I prefer using my double edge Merkur razor. It permits a close shave while still offering maximum protection from razor burn.

    Howdy!

What is this word "shave" you use?

    yours,
    Michael

Dunno. Something they do to their facial hair, I suppose...

I had to vote "something else" because it's the closest to "someONE else".

I'd like to say "my man does it", but in reality, I go to the barber shop every so often for a shave, a beard trim etc.

What no chemical options? I prefer to bikini wax my face, the pain is like a slap of fresh air. On days when I feel like a wimp, I use Nair. :-)

Blowtorch, like "Desperate Dan" of the Dandy.

This guy tried to emulate him with startling results.

Nothing like a close shave with a straight razor from Sweeney Todd!

I suspect that a lot of people aren't getting the joke in the last option. The joke is that it has been noticed that programming languages written by guys with beards do better than ones written by guys who are clean-shaven.
This must be the answer to the age-old question of who shaves the barber, who shaves anyone that doesn't shave themselves. The barber is a programmer!

Definitely safety razor. I've never been able to get a decent shave with an electric, and my experience is that I've actually gotten cut more often with an electric razor than with a safety razor.

My brother, when he was in the USAF, knew some men who used Nair, because razors gave them badly ingrown hairs.

I use a safety razor, with 5 blades and Total Shaving Solution oil instead of shaving cream. Works great on the scalp as well as the face (since I shave both daily).

Provided that shaving is not required, it is simpler to forgo shaving entirely. In this, I use Occam's razor once and never have to shave again!

Aray... I prefer to go to a saloon :)

Good man. After a few drinks who cares about the stubble ?

Also Mach3 is good option... very neat shave with three blades... I suppose if there is fourth one you will be able to see your skin piled off(as they say three blades gives clean and "near" shave....) hehehehehe :)
going to the saloon is very expensive!

My "something else" would have to be "tweezers." I am very, very methodical.

Always use this one... simple and safe... without a painful cut... so always go for safety razor....
avoid if you have pimples :)
lasor is also good option :)
      good one!!!

My preferred tool? Probably a laser.

Even with a "safety" razor, I almost always cut my neck somewhere. Doesn't matter if it's a new blade or not. Know that Simpsons episode where Homer tried a straight razor? Yeah, my last shave was like that.

Electric razors leave my entire face bright red, so all day long I have people asking if I somehow got a sunburn just on my lower face.

So the obvious option ("Just grow it out") sounds good... except that I have a sparse, patchy beard.

One of these days I really need to look into that laser option.

      Nkuvu,
When I was in the Army, I saw the strangest thing. A soldier shaved a wet bar of soap once every few strokes to his face. Apparently, he had problems with nicks, ingrown hair, razor bumps, and the like. I used the technique while in basic training when shaving multiple times a day was necessary.

      Cheers - L~R

It has to be a safety razor, no one in this place is allowed any sharp objects and with a 3 year old at home that is more necessary for everyone involved.

Ugh, God, the word "shave" makes me sick.

I use an electric razor, but sparingly, and slop on the shaving lotion after. Fickle, my face skin is.

    meh.
