I find this claim ludicrous.
http://www.giantitp.com/forums is so slow that 3 out of 4 posts actually fail and they have a whole section to complaining about it.

Actually I had a bit more of a thought about this and I had a look on
http://boardreader.com/. Gitp is ranked 593 whilst perlmonks.org is ranked worse than 100,000 so presumably perlmonks.org ought to be fairly lightly loaded. Have you looked up the forums you are comparing perlmonks against on boardreader?
