in reply to How to replace in one regexp

my $path = $1 if $target =~ m!^([^?]*?/)?([^/\?]*)(\?(.*))?$!;
  • $1 : path
  • $2 : file or script name
  • $3 : query string
  • $4 : query string without leading "?"
