Akoya has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Esteemed monks,

After searching the monastery extensively, I have found very little mention of the Jifty framework, and nothing within the last year, though it appears to still be an active work. My questions to you are:

  1. Do you use Jifty?
  2. What are the drawbacks to using Jifty?
  3. Is it worth learning Jifty (Why? and Why not?)
  4. Where can I find more examples (than the Jifty docs offer)?
  5. What wisdom do you have to share regarding Jifty?
  6. What wisdom do you have to share regarding web frameworks in general?
Thank you for your time, and your wisdom. --Akoya

keep an eye on lifewithperl.org , I have some info it will soon be up and it will contain a survey on all Perl web frameworks including Jifty with interviews from the authors. about learning Jifty I don't know since I haven't used it, but I would read the source code :)

also, why not go on irc , if there is a #jifty on irc.perl.org or irc.freenode.net I'm sure you can find out what you want to know there

Thank you, spx2, for the suggestions. I'll keep an eye out for signs of life at lifewithperl.org. I plan to participate in the Jifty mailing list, and #jifty on irc.freenode.net, but first wanted to see what the feelings on Jifty were around the monastery. I respect the opinions and advice I receive here.
