On the subject of the front page.... it's been several months now, do we still need such a prominent link to this on the front page?

Good observation, that link has now been removed.

So far, there have been no changes to the storage of the passwords, so your passwords are still stored in clear text.

There are two possible approaches to attack the problem with the password storage and all supporting processes, but it seems that they've stalled each other.
