How is that silly? If Perl 6 fails what replaces Perl 5 on a longer run?

Even utilities like sed, awk and even Scheme are maintained and developed till todays date. All that proves nothing.

    Why would you even think that Perl 5 needs replacing?

    Did you at some point come to see 6 as the next version of 5? It isn't.
