Pot,

It both fascinates and baffles me that you seem to believe that it is your place to assess the validity of how people spend their time
meet kettle:
And to the others reading this thread, let me make this clear: educated_foo's tactics don't get anything useful done.
I "fancy myself" someone who has an opinion about what makes Perl useful, and how various actions make it more or less useful. You and Chromatic happen to have a different opinion. Do and say whatever you want, and I'll continue to speak up when I think that what you're doing is pointless or counterproductive.

I'll continue to speak up when I think that what you're doing is pointless or counterproductive.

But why? What do you imagine you're achieving by telling people that their work is pointless? Why does it aggrieve you to have someone work on something you wouldn't choose to work on? Do you have the mistaken belief that if someone works on project X that it's taking away resources from your pet project Y?

I'm also trying to find the contributions that you're making to Perl, but not finding them. Can you please point me to them? I'm curious what you're adding.

    xoxo,
    Andy

It's not worth my time to fisk this. Maybe there's a chance that other people, not already personally invested in what I see as a waste of time, will avoid wasting their own time.

I use Perl to write programs that solve problems I have. I distribute some of them. Do I need to do something more to win your approval?

It's not a matter of my approval at all. However, I suspect you'll find that your opinions about what work should be done are given more credence by those doing the work when you're helping shoulder that burden rather than taking shots from the side.

So where are these distributed programs?
