While an excellent article, I've found that it's too long and detailed for my Perl workmates (who are mostly proficient C++ programmers but only occasional Perl programmers).
I point them instead at the shorter item in Chapter 9, "Subroutines" of Perl Best Practices entitled "Don't use subroutine prototypes".
They normally read that item quite quickly and then (happily) stop writing Perl as if it was C. :)
