I'm really amazed how many monks prefer perl 1. Somehow this seems to collide with the often given advice to use strict and warnings, but I can't quite put my finger on it... :-)

    It is not at all clear (unless you follow--or at least look at--the link) that "traditionally" means Perl 1. Many of those votes probably really meant: "Perl 5 just the way I first learnt it on the knee of me grandpappy".
