Thanks for the help.

I've never had to muck with LD_LIBRARY_PATH or ldconfig with perl modules. I use g-cpan under Gentoo which has (thus far) always set things up right for any given module I install.

Can you suggest steps, or perhaps a primer or howto, for diagnosing this kind of library issue in general, or this one in particular?

I'll attempt to contact the module maintainer too, perhaps something will come of that.
