in thread Combining 3 files

I thought that this was building @data ???

for my $dataset (@data) { my @out = push @{ $data[ $fileCount ]->{ shift @col } }, \@col; }

    Why? Just how many times do you need to build @data?

      aahhh ok, I removed this from the while loop and now it generates just the one

      what does this mean ?

      Can't use string ("4") as an ARRAY ref while "strict refs" in use at combine_primer_lists.pl line 67, <INFILE> line 243

      where this line is the problem

          push @results, $out[0]->[2];

        It means exactly what it says, its the same as Re^5: Combining 3 files, undef, a number, a string ... none of those things are an array reference
