Did you read the rest? Did you understand it? Do you have some argument, any argument, why PerlMonks should have a standard facebook "like" button over a non-standard version that doesn't funnel every single page hit along with your facebook cookie (if you have one) to facebook? Because that is the only choice that the statement you quoted applies to (but, yes, you have to bother to read and understand more than that one sentence to be able to realize that). If you have such an argument, then you might want to actually state it. I very often admit that I was wrong and the statement you quoted is not immune from that possibility. Arguing that "some people might disagree with you" isn't really arguing. It is more like, "I don't like your opinion but can't actually make a salient argument against it, so I'll just disparage the fact that you stated things strongly". I said it will never happen because I'm quite convinced that it never will. I was not even terse or stingy in explaining some of my reasons. My prediction that nobody will convince me that a standard facebook button is a good idea might well be wrong. Somebody might make the argument that convinces me that it actually is a good idea or even that my concerns are overstated and so against a consensus of what should happen that I should allow it to happen despite my concerns. But that certainly isn't going to happen if nobody actually tries to make such arguments. I don't recall seeing any arguments so far stating that a standard facebook "like" button is better than a less intrusive one and why. - tye
