If you think efficiency doesn't matter, then you've never worked on anything non-trivial. Please come back when your thingy can reliably serve millions of concurrent users like the stuff I do at work, or process hundreds of thousands of files or millions of database records a day on CHEAP hardware like some of my personal projects go. Then I'll know that you're at least worth paying attention to.
