I should have been more Handy::Dandy in dealing with DBIx::Simple and Juerd

I'm sorry (actually I'm not sorry). Hmm, let's see. If I had it to do over, I would've handled my concerns about the CPAN module that I find most useful and practical for database processing in a more cavalier relaxed fashion than I did. I dont understand why people were up in arms about the age of the thread. The topic of the thread was relevant. I simply continued the thread. Making a new thread seems pointless to me.

Even though my tone and attitude were overbearing, bitchy and potentially offensive to Juerd, I hope $reader understands that everything I did was done out of FEAR and CONCERN for something I value highly - DBIx::Simple. I only wanted to make it better. But sometimes being over-eager can lead to inappropriate actions and I was overly impatient and demanding.

There was a positive outcome to this. Since I spent so much time whining about delinquency in this RT bug queue, I addressed many things that I had laying around in mine and am glad I did so. Somehow my email address for RT was going to the wrong place and I wasnt getting any bug reports.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to improving DBIx::Simple in the near and far future. SQL::Abstract::More might be a promising replacement for the current delegation to SQL::Abstract. Again, I hope Juerd is not permanently upset at me and I hope there are no permanent condemnations of me.

If there are, then dont forget Juerd did the same thing to Tommy, and on Christmas Day at that!

Maybe you should be. Even if you have a reason, the person you talk to is still a human, and there's no reason to start bitching and become offensive.

How about apologizing when you notice that your behavior was not OK?

Practically every node on perlmonks is perl related, that doesn't mean every single node is a good place to report perl bugs, even if you limit reporting them as replies to Larry Walls :)

I've seen a dozen 1st time posters, reply to 10 year old node with a question on the same topic, asking someone who who hasn't logged in 10 years for help -- off topic posts like this get overlooked

I believe the reason for the response to your node are

part reflex action to type of posts described above

part slow day

mostly rude demanding tone and attempt to shame Juerd into action

Ahem...   Isn’t it rather true that “this Internet thingy” has rather much been a culture-shock to all of us?   It pushed us all out of the comfortable world of coffee-mugs and ill-fitting white shirts and fearsome ties and pocket-protectors, and introduced us all to the fearsome world of social interaction.   ;-)   Therefore, being engineers all, sometimes we screw it up.   So, let’s all just resolve to be ducks.   With backs well-coated with feathers that make the water (or whatever ... ewww ... it may be...?) just roll right off.   So that we can all remain focused upon the marvelous nerdy things that really concern us (and, which bring all of us here in the first place ...):   Perl modules, and the Perl language, which all of us use every day (and, far too long into the night).

Just for the record, I'm not proud of that post. Much of it was harsh and completely uncalled for. I was upset over other events and seeing that module was the proverbial last straw.
