MarkovChain has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

So I have a perl script (a nagios plugin as a matter of fact) and when I try to execute it via the command line on ubuntu, I get the following error  -bash: !0: event not found . So naturally I open up the source code and peruse through the source code... things look good. A quick

perl -c syntax OK
does not help much. I checked elsewhere on the net and all the posts seem to point towards the fact that the ! character is interpreted by the bash shell; which causes the issue. I digress... since I am calling it via perl, the shell has nothing to do with a ! in the script. Any thoughts in the hallowed hall????

Figured it out.... nothing to do with the script... I was passing a ! in one of the arguments. Pardon the trouble.

    Thanks and cheers....
