but "gobbles" as a quantitative measure is yet another shear Ikegamism!

If you're going to complain about another's English usage, at least take the time to use it correctly yourself.

    shear
    1. To cut, originally with a sword or other bladed weapon, now usually with shears, or as if using shears.
    2. To remove the fleece from a sheep etc by clipping
    3. (physics) To deform because of shearing forces

Perhaps you meant sheer. (2. Pure; unmixed; being only what it seems to be.)

Yes. I mistype homonyms. A lot. Get over it. Somewhat different to making shit up.

It's not common, but googling «"gobbles of" -turkey» reveals 15,000 results. From the first page:

    • Gobbles of fun
    • Gobbles of thanks
    • Gobbles of girls
    • Gobbles of gorgeousness
    • Gobbles of gratitude

    It means "oodles"

If I search for "innit" I'd probly fin scads of 'its. But it downt make 'em pucka do it.

With the rise and rise of 'Social' network sites: 'Computers are making people easier to use everyday'
Examine what is said, not who speaks -- Silence betokens consent -- Love the truth but pardon error.
"Science is about questioning the status quo. Questioning authority".
In the absence of evidence, opinion is indistinguishable from prejudice.
        It don't? Why not?

Geese gobble, and some little boys gobble up their food ("he gobbles his food") but "gobbles" as a quantitative measure is yet another shear Ikegamism!

    That's awesome!

(To be clear, this isn't sarcastic.)

We don't even speak the same dialect, yet you're sure that a word I've heard hundreds of times is archaic. Even after I provide you the million results that shows otherwise. If Doctor Who is any indication, next you'll say that "toilet" (the fixture) and trunk (of a car) aren't proper words either cause gee, that's not what they're called in your world.

Like I said about 3 or more levels back: I defy you to find a modern, none-defining usage of it anywhere on the internet!

I did. I gave you nearly a million of them. Here are some of them again:

    • Glob of blogs
    • Glob of glutten
    • Glob of nerdiness
    • Glob of skin
    • Glob of clay
    • Glob of mercury
    • Glob of grease
    • Glob of body oil

Cause facebook, science fairs, video games and the words "blog" and "nerdiness" existed in archaic times...

Globs are big bunches of data types. It's not crazy to think they could have been named after "glob".
