thanks guys I tried with win32::Ole , File::Find and word count(linux one see above thread)method .Win32::Ole and wc give almost the same time .. So is there a way to count even faster that that??

After checking over on Server Fault, one recommendation for directory size (which includes file count) is the SysInternals version of du. You could use this, and if you need the information in Perl, then you can use backticks and collect the information for further usage
