Maybe using YAML::Dumper would help?

use strict;
use warnings;
use YAML::XS;
use YAML::Dumper;

my $ref = YAML::XS::Load(join('',<DATA>));
my $dumper = YAML::Dumper->new;
print $dumper->dump($$ref{'fooUuid'});
print $dumper->dump(ref $$ref{'fooUuid'});
