Anonymous Monk has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hello, I developed a custom Perl module.
I wouldn't like to put things like:

      use lib qw(/dir01/dir02/dir03/perlLibsRepo);
      use myPerlModule;
[download]

in all the pages that use the module.

The best thing would be to "call" the module as any other module installed with cpan:

      use myPerlModule;
[download]

Is there any way to make cpan "register" my module even if it's not available in CPAN but only in the server's filesystem?

You just have to install your module. There is a list of paths that perl search when it tries to load a module, and it must be one of them. You can write a Build.PL file (using Module::Build) or a Makefile.PL (using Module::Install), and then call `cpan .` inside your module's root directory to have CPAN.pm install it for you. Here's an example Build.PL. Perl 6 - the future is here, just unevenly distributed	[reply] [d/l]

See perlrun on PERL5LIB, which can be used to expand the module search path of Perl.	[reply]
