You misunderstand what Citrus Perl is. It is a Perl distribution, like Active State Perl, not a module. You can install it in parallel with your current Perl.

Citrus Perl's advantage is that it has been designed and debugged to allow making stand-alone executables easy and cross-platform. It even has a GUI for doing so. The Cava packager uses Citrus Perl as its engine.

Yup, but sadly citrus/cava websites are down ATM -- and here I keep checking for 5.16 :)

Ok, I can give it a try. I am on linux and my I couldn`t find Cava or Citrus Perl in my reppo. Is this mainly for windows?

        Is this mainly for windows?

Well, it may be that way by happen-stance, but it is for Windows, Linux, and Mac. There are downloads for each platform. It looks like their website crash has been partially restored. See CitrusPerl for the Citrus Perl and the Cava packager. You may only need the Cava Packager to make standalone binaries for your platform. I've heard good results from it. See Cava Packager. Cava will contain a version of Citrusperl for its packaging needs. There is one caveat, if I recall correctly, and that is Citrus Perl ( and Cava) only use a non-threaded version of Perl, but that is the price you pay for reliable cross-platform binaries.

I'm downloading the Linux version now for testing myself.

Update: It seems that the Cava Packager requires Citrus Perl to be installed. Cava wouldn't use my threaded Perl in /usr/bin/perl.
