2ge has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hi guys,

I am trying to install using CPAN DBD::mysql, which I did number of times already, but now I am running to some error, which is quite strange to me. I am using updated Mountain Lion OSX, with latest XCODE.

Here is dump of output and info needed.

I am getting "Segmentation fault: 11", I am not sure, if it is fail of wrong MYSQL installation (in PHP it works fine, also commandline...)...

Thanks for any help.

Give this a try, http://bixsolutions.net/forum/post-58.html#pid58. Basically, DBD::mysql has to be built with native OS X headers from source. Not very difficult to do for the most part but it can bite you.

Three thousand years of beautiful tradition, from Moses to Sandy Koufax, you're god damn right I'm living in the fucking past

Hi dhoss, you made my day! Compiling from the source = no problem at all. I always believed, there is not much difference between cpan and making it from the source, basically cpan downloads archive, unpack, Makefile, make, make test and make install. But there is difference, now it is working!
