Strawberry Perl (and I think ActivePerl now also) includes a development environment that should work with the CPAN interface or manually at the command line.

What version of Windows are you installing to? Did you install gdbm for Windows? (not GDBM_File)

Gdbm for Windows lists 95 / 98 / ME / NT / 2000 / XP but not Server 2003. The cpan page for this module states that gdbm must be installed first. The cpan command line interface can be used to install the GDBM_File module for Strawberry or ActivePerl. http://www.activestate.com/blog/2010/10/how-install-cpan-modules-activeperl. Thanks, I know how to use PPM, but there's no GDBM_File module in any repository, and I've tried several. The GDBM_File page on CPAN links to a full download of Perl 5.14, it is NOT a link to the module, which seems wrong. I need advice specific to this module, if anyone can help.	[reply]
