This is not entirely true: you can disable personal nodelet
on Monastery Gates or non-front pages. So if you enable personal nodelet only for the frontpage, you still can add nodes to scratchpad and/or personal nodelet using the
new feature added today.
There should be something in user settings to
control the behaviour of these two new links...
