My wife and I checking into hotel in Assisi and
complimenting the desk clerk/owner:
Us: Your English is very good.
Him: Well, my wife _is_ from New Jersey.
Me: Your English is very good - anyway.

My wife and I will be going back in 2005. And I will drive much more carefully than last time. The parking ticket from Florence followed us all the way to Austin Texas!   And we paid it!!
